March 2024
Ridgeview Medical Centre is sad to announce that Dr. Ruth Eeles will be leaving her practice in Canmore as of May 31, 2024.

Dr. Eeles has sent out a notification to each of her patients personally, stating what an honour and a privilege it has been to serve as a family physician in this great community. Although we will miss Dr. Eeles and her compassionate care very much, we understand that as life brings about changes, it is necessary to embark upon a new and exciting chapter.

Ridgeview Medical Centre is committed to providing continuity of care to ensure a smooth transition during this time of change. Dr. Eeles will work closely with our other physicians and healthcare providers to facilitate the transfer of your medical records should you find a new family physician. Additionally, Dr. Eeles may offer sporadic coverage as a locum for the months of June, July, and August. Details regarding this coverage will be posted as soon as they become available.

Ridgeview Medical Centre also offers access to evening and Saturday walk-in clinics to ensure continued access to healthcare services. While change can be challenging, we will continue to work diligently to recruit new doctors as aggressively as possible.

Ridgeview Medical Centre is also able to maintain your records should you not locate a new physician in the community and will place Dr. Eeles' patients on our waitlist for incoming physicians.

If you have any questions or concerns about this transition, please do not hesitate to reach out to our front desk. Our staff is here to assist you in any way we can.

Thank you,
Ridgeview Medical Centre

POLICIES:

Walk-in Policy:

Walk-in patients are served on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you require immediate medical attention, please seek care at Canmore General Hospital or Banff Mineral Springs Hospital.

Please DO NOT show up before the check-in time starts - you will not be placed in line until the start time. Our hallway is shared with other great businesses in town, and we do not want to clog up their entryways.

Upon arrival for the walk-in clinic, please take a number and have a seat. If you have been to our clinic before, one of our team members will call out your number shortly. If you have not been to our clinic before, please grab a New Patient Form and fill it out while you wait.

Once your number has been called, we will book you in to see the doctor between the walk-in hours posted for the day. Please note that only one doctor is working per walk-in shift, therefore the appointments fill quickly.

Once your appointment is made, you are welcome to leave the clinic until your allotted appointment time.

Same-Day Visit Policy:

Now that we have opened our walk-in clinic, we have stopped offering same-day appointments on the days that we are running the walk-in clinic.

Masking Policy:

As per Alberta Health Services policies, we are lifting our mandatory masking requirement EFFECTIVE March 24, 2023.

A mask is only required in the following situations:

  • A patient with the following symptoms MUST wear a mask:
    • Sore throat
    • Runny nose
    • Sneezing
    • New or worsening cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Temperature equal to or more than 38°C
  • Masks will be worn by physicians and staff when unable to physical distance from a symptomatic patient.
  • Masks may also be worn based on personal comfortability, for all patients, staff and physicians.
  • Masks must be worn if you have had a positive covid test in the past ten days, regardless of whether you currently have symptoms.

We thank all of our patients, physicians, staff and community for following the masking regulations for the last 3 years. We appreciate your diligence in keeping us and our community safe.

Unassigned (Walk-in) Patients:

Ridgeview Medical Centre is a family practice and offers a walk-in clinic on evenings and weekends.

Walk-in rules apply:

  • Patients must attend the clinic in person to book and will be assigned an appointment on a first-come-first-seen basis.
  • Appointments are booked same-day only and cannot be booked in advance.
  • Unassigned patients who do not return at their assigned appointment time will lose the ability to book ahead in the future and may be required to wait in the clinic for any future appointments. Additional missed appointments will result in dismissal from the clinic.
  • New patients must complete a New Patient Form and provide a copy of their Provincial Health Card at the time of booking. Photo ID may also be requested.
  • Please note: If you cannot provide a valid copy of your Provincial Health Card, or if you have Quebec Healthcare, you will need to pay for your appointment.  We are unable to confirm coverage for visitors from other provinces.
  • Some services, such as travel-related appointments or third-party medical forms, are not covered by Alberta Health Services and may incur a fee.
  • If you have cold or flu symptoms that you suspect may be related to COVID-19; please call to discuss before attending the clinic in person.
